Shred the cabbage finely. Place in a bowl, sprinkle with salt and stir. Place a heavy weight on top, such as a large pot. Leave for 2 hours.
Toast the peanuts in a dry skillet until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Or you can toast the peanuts in the oven on a baking sheet for 2 minutes. Watch that the peanuts don't burn. Sprinkle peanuts with salt, remove from heat.
In a small bowl, mix oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. When adding salt, remember that peanuts are also salty.
After two hours of salting the cabbage, mix it. Add onion, peanuts and dressing, mix well again. If necessary, add salt to the cabbage salad to taste.
