This dish, somewhat reminiscent of our five-minute pickled cabbage, is a constant participant in all outdoor picnics and feasts in the USA and many European countries, especially in Great Britain, Germany, Belgium. It is usually served with hamburgers, shawarma, hot dogs, sandwiches and a variety of dishes cooked over an open fire.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Chop the cabbage as thinly as possible, cut the carrots into thin strips or very small cubes. Chop the onion.
  2. Mix the dressing ingredients until the sugar and salt are completely dissolved.
  3. Pour the dressing into a bowl of chopped vegetables, mix everything well and refrigerate under the lid for 2-8 hours.
  4. Taste the salad before serving. Some people like it when it is sweeter: in that case, season it with brown sugar or honey.
