Greek salad with feta cheese is a real symbol of the country, because the dish contains the main ingredients of its modern cuisine: tomatoes, olives, olive oil and feta cheese. Not a single meal of local residents can do without them, who, in principle, prefer very simple and inexpensive dishes. Greek salad with feta cheese (another name - "rustic") is prepared in just a few minutes, and it is not customary to cut its ingredients into small pieces. Our version is a fantasy on the theme of a traditional dish, which looks very nice not only on an everyday, but also on a festive table.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Prepare the red onion for the cheese salad. Peel the onion, cut in half and cut into very thin half rings. Fold in a small bowl.
  2. Pour red wine vinegar and olive oil into another bowl. Whisk lightly with a fork. Pour the onion with the resulting mixture, stir and leave for 20 minutes.
  3. Wash the tomatoes for the salad and pat dry with a paper towel. Cut into cubes and place in a separate bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and a pinch of salt. Leave it on for 10 minutes.
  4. Crush kalamata olives for salad with the flat side of a knife, then carefully remove the seeds with the tip. Cut the cheese into small cubes or slices.
  5. Wash, peel and cut the fresh cucumber for the salad into quarters. Cut each into cubes. Place them on one side of a large flat plate.
  6. Place prepared tomatoes, red onions, kalamata olives, feta cheese and capers in rows on the same flat plate. Season with salt, pepper, and sprinkle with dried oregano. Pour the olive oil and vinegar mixture over the ingredients of the Greek salad with the feta cheese left over from the pickling. Season a little. You can garnish the salad with fresh oregano leaves.
