  1. Prepare all ingredients. Herring can be bought whole or ready-made fillets. Pickled cucumbers are suitable, as barrel ones are more watery. To make processed cheese easy to grate, hold it for 15-20 minutes in the freezer.
  2. Wash the potatoes and eggs, put in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Add some salt. Place over high heat and bring to a boil. Boil the eggs for 10 minutes from the moment of boiling. Boil potatoes for 15-25 minutes. Boiling time depends on the variety and size of potatoes. Remove the eggs from the saucepan, cover with cold water and set aside. Remove the potatoes from the broth and leave to cool.
  3. Peel the cooled potatoes and grate on a coarse grater.
  4. To form a salad, you will need a culinary ring. I used a homemade ring made from a plastic bottle 15 cm in diameter, 7 cm high. Place the ring on a plate. Put the grated potatoes in the first layer. Smooth with a spoon and tamp lightly. Season with a little mayonnaise. You can salt and pepper a little if you like.
  5. Clean the entrails from the herring. Rinse the fish well under running water and pat dry with a paper towel. Please note that there is no black film inside, as it gives bitterness. Separate the fillet from the spinal bone. Try to remove all large bones. Cut the fillet into small cubes. You can also remove the skin from the fillet first.
  6. Lay the sliced ​​herring on the potato layer. Tamp a little.
  7. Wash and pat dry green onions. Cut finely.
  8. Put the chopped onion on the pieces of herring.
  9. Grate melted cheese on a fine grater.
  10. Spread the grated cheese over the green onions.
  11. Blot the pickled cucumbers with a marinade towel. Grate the cucumbers on a fine grater. If the cucumbers are juicy, squeeze out the excess juice.
  12. Lay the grated cucumbers on top of the melted cheese. Lightly tamp and brush with mayonnaise
  13. Peel the eggs from the shell. Grate on a fine grater.
  14. Lay the grated eggs on the cucumber layer. Tamp a little and grease with mayonnaise.
  15. Carefully remove the ring and garnish the salad with canned green peas.
