This is the way shrimp is cooked in China, as you can see, everything is very simple. Shrimp, peppers, tomatoes and soy sauce are the main ingredients you need to make Chinese shrimp.

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the starch in water, add the corn syrup, soy sauce, sherry (chicken broth), garlic and ginger, mix well and set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or other large skillet, add green pepper and fry over high heat for about 3 minutes. Then put the shrimp in a frying pan and fry until pink for about 3 minutes. Stir the starch mixture well again and add to the pan. While stirring, bring the mixture to a boil and cook until thickened for about 2 minutes. Then put the tomato slices in the pan and cook for a couple of minutes.
  3. Serve Chinese shrimp with boiled rice (optional).
